Brent loves volleyball like its his job, because it is. He coaches for Desert Hills High School during the high school season and is now coaching a club team this summer. AND he loves BYU, as he should. So obviously he is a fan of BYU Men's Volleyball. And they are GOOD this year. Like they dominated their conference last week in the MPSF tournament and have high hopes to win the national championship next week.

All that to say, we got tickets to the semi-final conference game last Thursday night. It was a whirlwind trip (arn't they all these days). We left St George, and took our awesome 2nd row seats that Brent got us. Let the game begin! It was a pretty good game, we expected it to be a little bit closer since both teams are really good this year but BYU had home court advantage and it ended in 3 sets. It was just in time for us to eat dinner and arrive home promptly at 3am. It was great to get out of the store for a night and be able to do something else for a change. And as all whirlwind trips end, we went back to work Friday morning and are now looking forward to a great Sunday nap that's up next on the schedule. Some days it doesn't feel real, like when I write a blog post about Brent and me opening a clothing store. Nonetheless, here we are just a few weeks in, running this crazy ship. Runway Fashion Exchange now consumes our lives like I've never thought possible. It's my double-full-time job (hello 70 hour weeks!) and Brent's 2nd job where he works nights and weekends on top of his full-time spot at the radio station. And we love it. It has been amazing seeing our Father in Heaven work in only a way he knows how. We have had such incredible opportunities presented to us because of this store. Part of me wonders how it all came together at all and the other part confidently stands by and trusts. I feel more grateful than ever to hear, "My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways." Because His perfect plan for us has been the best plan for us. I sometimes say that it's not our store, it's His store. Our Heavenly Father has directed its upbringing and he still oversee and cultivates its progress. He has given us stewardship over it and He trusts that we will help His children and bless all those we can. Our mission is this grand adventure with Him at the helm.
For anyone concerned about the details, we started filling the store with clothes and all things teen and young adult styles in January this year, and our Grand Opening was February 21st. Our store is doing amazing and our first month open our store was #3 in the franchise for sales! If you're in St George you HAVE to stop in.
I felt inspired by everyone who posted something new this week. It must be the Fall in the air; somehow it always seems to bring a refreshing change that makes you sit back and review. Summer is a time for Play! and Move! and Do! But Fall wants to take everything slow. Fall lends a slower change of pace, preparation, and introspection. Right now I feel like no matter where I am, as long as I am moving forward, I am succeeding.

My dad always has something planned, and while Bekah and Brigham were visiting for the week in July, he couldn't resist planning this awesome bike ride. We rode up Zion Canyon, to the last bus stop and back. It was great, perfect weather, awesome company and tons of fun. And we plan on doing it again EVERY YEAR, right Bekah??

I've said this before, but I LOVE the 4th of July and I love that we can have a big ol' party to go along with the fireworks and the perfect summer night.

We spent the Fourth of July at the Sun Bowl in St George. It was HOT. We moved to St George in June, and this is our first summer here. It is so strange to me that no one goes outside. Everyone hibernates in the summer and when it cools off in September, that's when everyone comes out of the woodwork. The 4th was no different; we were doing things during the day and there was no one around but about the time the sun went down, all these people were out and about.
I can't tell you how much I love this guy. He's the most hard working, patient, obnoxious guy around and I wouldn't trade him for anything. Celebrating birthdays for Brent and the Rowe's is always a grand adventure I get pumped up about every year. This year we took it easy with breakfast, a tour of the Brigham Young House, a grand ol' nap while Brent was off working, and a summer downpour that did not disappoint. Now that we know summer birthdays in St George means HOT, HOT, HOT we'll have a battle plan for next year.
I only have 3 years under my Ragnar belt but we have a blast every year. And we were actually on the same team this year (yay), it was a miracle! This year we joined a team of prospective new friends and it was awesome. Crazy things always happen at Ragnar, and this year 2 of our runners dropped out 7 hours before we started. We were leaving to drive up to Salt Lake the night before and I was calling people to see if they could run with us. It went about something like this:
"Hey, so we're driving up for Ragnar tonight and we need 2 extra runners! Do you want to run? We're leaving in 30 minutes."
We didn't get anyone recruited from St George. It might have something to do with the fact that our team ran from Thursday - Friday instead of the normal Friday - Saturday schedule.
We did however, recruit Brent's longtime friend Jarom who lived across the street from him growing up. We picked him up the next morning and luckily he was prepped to jump into the 14 .4 miles we assigned to him. He ended up being one of the stronger runners on our team. But I suppose you would have to be in order to run a race with last minute notice like that. My cousin Dylan ran with us again this year and KILLED it, literally! He got 97 kills on his 3 short legs. 48 of which came on a 4.2 mile leg. CRAZY! [FYI: a kill is when you pass someone]
And summer time means birthday season. Since my birthday was the second day of work at Patriot Home Mortgage, they had to have a birthday party to welcome me! Brent got me my favorite sour cream lemon pie from Crowshaw's and as usual, it did not disappoint. It was a pretty low-key day with just Brent and I. We went to my parent's for a little party on Saturday and my mom made dinner and this huge ice cream cake! It was amazing! It's so fun living close to family and being able to see them for little things like that anytime we want!
We are so happy to be living here and to kick start our time, and since we both had a few days off work after we moved, we decided to do the river hike in Leeds. Last time I went, there was tons of water and you could jump off the cliffs and slide down the natural water slides. This time, we went a little bit later in the year and a lot of the water was dried up and the water that was there was pretty nasty. The one good thing about the water being so low, was that we could hike in the canyon as far as we wanted. We packed a lunch and had a grand ol' time! It was a pretty great intro to this amazing place! We love it here!
We moved on June 1st and in true southern Utah fashion, were welcomed with 104 degree weather! We had lots of help from our wonderful new ward with moving in! It only took about an hour to the truck and trailer unloaded. We love it here and luckily, Brent and I both had a few days off the beginning of last week to get everything sorted out a little bit. We ended up ditching the unpacking for a little bit on Tuesday to go hiking. :) we have quickly realized that we desperately need some mountain bikes to fully enjoy the red rocks down here. We love it, and can't wait for all the adventures!!Sharnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17624776941416661146noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3037627297157639957.post-37908489316672830112013-06-07T10:14:00.000-07:002013-06-07T10:14:00.326-07:00Hike in Zion: Hidden CanyonOne more post sans Brent; on Memorial Day I went hiking in Zion's with my parents. They are avid National Park season pass holder/users to this amazing place. I've been there quite a few times and I still get awestruck on the bus ride in. I want to bike the Zion loop with Brent and really have the opportunity to drink in all of the red rock goodness that it has to offer.

We expected there to be tons of people so we left early to start our hike around 8. The plan was executed flawlessly! We got there just in time to get on a bus without having to wait, and by the time we left, it was just getting hot and we waved goodbye to all the people!

The Hidden Canyon trail wasn't too busy (shocking, I know! But it is hidden after all.) I thought that this would be an out-and-back hike where we were just at the bottom of a slot canyon. Boy was I wrong. 1000 feet elevation gain in 1.1 miles. In case you don't know what that means, it's uphill ALL THE WAY. And totally worth it. It's pretty much Angel's Landing's baby brother. Really short, but still amazing views and a hint of the vertigo you get from the Angel's hike.
Brent and I are going back. And soon. It was an awesome hike! It's so short but it has some awesome overviews of the canyon. Brent did not come. :( So for the past month, he's been in Idaho, and I've been down here in St. George. This means lots of missing that awesome guy, and Facetime.
So the first weekend in May is always Ironman weekend in St. George! I missed last year, but I have otherwise been to the St. George Ironman as a spectator/volunteer/Ironwife for the past 4 years. If you haven't ever been to one of these big pro races, I would highly recommend going to the finish line for even just 30 minutes. It sounds strange, to go hang out at a race where you probably don't know anyone participating. But it is so inspirational to see people accomplish their goals that they have worked so hard for. The triathlon community is so unique and I am more than willing to volunteer my time to be a part of it! My dad works for the Health Department in Southern Utah and they run the medical tent at the exit of the swim every year.
The last thing on our Idaho Bucket List was going to The Snake Bite. It's one of the best Idaho Falls restaurants. They have awesome burgers. Brent always gets the Cowboy Burger and this time I got the Grand Teton Burger. The real star of this place is their spicy fry sauce. SOO good! If you are ever in Idaho Falls, this is definitely the place to go for a burger!
So last Saturday, Brent asked me what was on my list. The only thing I could think of was go to the Potato Museum. I figured that if I was to live in the Potato State, it would warrant a visit to the tribute of said state. I always wondered what someone would put in a potato museum, and now I know. Once was definitely all that was needed. I suppose I'm glad that we went, but we will most likely never return. It was pretty disappointing.
BIG SKY MONTANA
We went to Big Sky, MT with some friends the first weekend in February and stayed at a cabin for the weekend. We snowboarded Friday and Saturday. I can honestly say that it was the best two days I've ever had snowboarding. It's called Big Sky for a reason; that place seems endless! I don't know if we took the same run the whole 2 days we were there. The snow was perfect and there is something for everyone. We spent the first day kind of all over the map, trying out a few different areas of the resort. We thought about going up the tram, but the wait was about an hour long! So on Saturday, with our great tour guide who knew where to go, it was like a completely different experience! We were on trails that we didn't even touch yesterday. Many of them I would have never sought out myself. This was the first season that I felt comfortable on double blacks and I attribute a lot of that to this trip. We eventually took the tram to the top and it was totally worth it! Jason took us across this tiny goat path to the edge of a cliff and said, "We're here"! I only freaked out for a small second and took the plunge. Later, when we were on the lift we could see the shoot that we went down and I just kept thinking there is no way I would choose to do that on my own. There were so many of these same moments that day. I'm so glad that Jason encouraged me to stretch myself because I became a much better snowboarder in just that day.
Our next big trip was to Jackson, WY! We went with Matt and Mindi. They were there for President's Day weekend and we joined them on Saturday. Since it was a warm day and late in the Spring, the snow was like mashed potatoes. It was a ton of fun! We really wanted to go to Jackson since we figured that it would be the last time before we move. And I got to try out my brand spankin' new board!
We did make it up to Targhee once, my knees didn't love me this year after teaching 4 days a week so I sat out about half the day. Targhee is always a favorite and Brent has been there about a fillion times so we have our secret spots that make it tons of fun every time we go.

We also went to Kelly's together a few times after Brent got off work. Brent's first day up this year and at the bottom cat track he fell and hit his head (it never happens!) and tried to get a concussion. Thank goodness for those sexy helmets! We went up one Saturday and since it's such a small <strike>mountain</strike> hill we covered the whole thing in about 3 hours and called it a day.
Brent and I went down to St. George for Abbi's farewell and since I haven't been working, I stayed for the rest of the week to 'help Abbi pack'. Most of what I did involved staying out of the cold Idaho weather, catching up with everyone, and going to Swig for snowcones.

We also went rock climbing and I did take ONE (iPhone) picture there. Here's the proof:

The best part of our rock climbing adventure was actually the drive over. In the car was Abbi, her friend Kameron (driving), and in the back, his roommate Tarzan, Matthew, and me. So Tarzan looks at Matthew and then turns to me and asks, "So what High School do you go to?"

"....."

Hmmm, well that hasn't happened in about a year and a half. It was pretty funny actually. Right after I graduated from SUU and moved to Idaho, I'm pretty sure that when I told someone I had just graduated, most people assumed that I had just graduated from High School. It's fine, it's really no big deal.

It ended up being a good week for me to be gone since Brent was really busy every night doin' his thang making the big bucks working late, going to late night meetings, and winning all sports games. Seriously, Basketball: check, Volleyball: check check, Soccer: check. Also, since the first round of the NCAA Tournament started last week Brent could relish in the basketball madness all week long. Speaking of which, my bracket was looking really good (12 of 16 in the Sweet 16!), but when Indiana lost Brent and I were both done for since they were our champion pick. IT WAS AWESOME. How did I swing that? Mostly magic, and weekends with Fridays off.

We were in Bear Lake from Thursday to Thursday and instead of driving home with Brent, I came back to Salt Lake and was picked up in the tiniest road trip car you can imagine. A Chevy Cruze.

And this picture makes it look massive. But let me tell you, the picture lies. There were 5 of us, with 5 bags, 5 people's camping gear and a whole bunch of peaches in that tiny car who's back seats push the two side people to basically sit on top of the middle person. Let's just say that I will never purchase this car. Ever.

We were driving to Oregon. It's a beautiful place; not the ugly Idaho-ish side of Oregeon, but the place where anything grows just about everywhere. Like moss on trees, and on the roofs of houses. I live in a desert and I never knew it was really like that. It's like being in the rainforest. Or what I imagine a rainforest would be like.

We didn't drive straight there, but we probably could have. We stopped at a campground near Sisters, OR for the night and it was only about an hour and a half to Mill City- our final destination which was nothing compared to the 15 hour drive it took to get to Sisters. We got up and drove along the coastline. It was pretty incredible. My favorite part about the coast is that the trees grow sideways from the coastal breeze.

It was really relaxing and we stopped when we wanted to, to look at whatever there was to look at in the little I Spy glass (which apparently, if you're Abbi, it's hard to find something). One of my favorite moments of the whole trip was when Abbi was looking through the telescope for a few minutes seeming to look at something and then says, "Oh, I see a rock!!" like it was the first thing she found. Matthew was pretty pro at finding things in the distance. But he might have just made it up.
There was a really fat squirrel that was bothering us to feed it while we were 'I Spying' and he kept me pretty well occupied while everyone else was looking at the horizon line. He was seriously like 3 inches from me and probably had rabies (but in a cute way).
When we finally got to Mill City, we couldn't help but take a bunch of pictures of this tiny little red-head. If he didn't have Bekah's birthmark and look so much like a tiny Elijah, I might not believe that he belongs to either of them. And he's not so tiny anymore.

Monday morning, we went to the coast and planned on camping at this awesome State Park that is a half mile from the beach. It was gorgeous!! I'm so glad that Bekah and Elijah love Oregon so much because that means we can come visit whenever we want, since there's definitely not enough sun for me to live there. But seriously, who couldn't love this.
Since we were in Oregon, we had to go get some famous clam chowder in Newport. So we stopped on over to Old Mo's to pick some up. While Matt and Dad were waiting in line, Abbi and I went exploring. The port is such a foreign environment for us landlocked, water loving people so we had a lot of fun. It was kind of creepy with all the seaweed and moss growing all over the docks.
We found this place called Sharks. It's cool cause some people call me Shark (Sharkie) so it's like I own it. I know, 'big deal' but give me a break, my name is SHARNA. I'll never find a restaurant/sign/street name or even one of those little bike license plates with my name on it. I take that back, my friend Skyler had key chain made with my name on it and I will keep it on my keys religiously until the day that it falls off. As for the rest, I have to take what I can get it.

It was tons of fun. I wish that Brent could have come! I saw a trailer with a bunch of bikes and a sign for an Oregon coast bike tour. I thought that was just the thing for him. We missed him so much; too bad he has to "make the big bucks," as I always say. But I'm sure this won't be the last time we visit Oregon. There are such wonderful people there, we couldn't possibly stay away for too long.
Christmas is less than 2 weeks away! I think we're ready. We've never put anything on our door and I found these cute little bells and a door hanger and hung it up. Aaand it looked really pathetic. So I cut off some branches from our Christmas tree and put them through the big ring and... tada! Not pathetic! I thought it was cool and pretty genius of me. You can do it too! And for anyone who doesn't have a real tree, or extra branches to spare, I'm sure your friendly neighborhood tree lot would gladly give you their extra scraps. They might even be excited about it!

Merry Christmas! Next up..tackle Christmas cards. We're sending out like 10, so it shouldn't be a huge hurdle.Sharnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17624776941416661146noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3037627297157639957.post-51558027105781640542012-12-11T23:20:00.000-08:002012-12-20T23:16:52.329-08:00Bear Lake 2012Every time I see our Christmas tree I just smile and pause for a moment to think of how great this season is. And even though Christmas is a mere 2 weeks away, I can't help but to long for the summer sunshine. So in the midst of the dreary winter, here's a post about all things summer!

Bear Lake is always a highlight of the summer and this year was no different. It is so much more fun with the kiddos there. As always, it is of the utmost importance that a good beach spot is claimed so as to give the best chance for optimal water access, good sand and plenty of room to stretch out. I'm told that 'good sand' doesn't exist when the water is high like it has been for the past few years, and I believe it. Hopefully someday the water level will decrease enough to bask in this glorious sand of the Rockies. Here's Bailey taking claim of such a spot as this.
This year all the kids were really excited about the jet skis. Beans kept asking for a ride to just about anyone willing to yield a life jacket and Mason was perfectly content to sit and drive the jet ski while it was parked on the beach.
The boys went swimming with their floaties and flippers (Carson). There was a little buoy that someone had brought attached to the anchor of their boat about 10 yards off the beach and Beans and Carson took great pride in swimming out to it.
We had a blind root beer taste test challenge with 7(or 9 maybe?) kinds of root beer but deemed the test disqualified for lack of cold beverages. We surprisingly found that A&W root beer is by far the worst of root beers, especially when warm. We will continue to buy it regardless, after convincing ourselves that it tastes just fine cold. I am still not convinced.

Brent and I woke up early one morning to ride our bikes all the way around the lake. This is an average day in the Land of Brent but 54 miles is no small feat for me. This was actually the longest ride I had ever done before, or since. It was not as bad as I thought it would be and I only died about the last 10 miles but thankfully with biking, when you ride with someone like Brent who can literally pull you to the end, it's not so bad. I'm glad we did it and maybe it will become a tradition.

[Part II]Since the majority of the traveling we did was to and from races, here's our story. Part 2:

Ragnar Relay
Sadly, I had to run this one without Brent on my team. Andrea, from our ward was looking for one extra member to join their team last minute and since I had mentioned earlier in the year that Ragnar from last year was so much fun she invited me to be on their team. I told Brent and he got jealous that I was running and he wasn't. So he found a team of his own. My team was a bunch of cousins and we had a blast! I still hated the night run but it was pretty much the perfect run; slight down hill, great temperature, and just after sunset. It was pretty peaceful I only mostly freaked out when I ran under some powerlines and they were making some pretty creepy noise and I had no idea what it was. Other than that, I felt great for all 3 of my legs and since we were in Van 2 we didn't have to wait for 4 hours at the finish line!

To Bone and Back

This race was kind of a let down the weekend after Ragnar and we didn't even meet the rest of our team. The way the To Bone and Back race works is that each of the 8 runners on your team runs a 5 mile leg. It makes for some interesting transition areas. It's an out and back race, so just as the title suggests, you run from Idaho Falls to the city of Bone (20 miles), and back. Brent had the 2nd leg and I had the 3rd. We were at the start line with our first runner and after I finished running, we went home. It was kind of sad and I think our team ended up taking like 6th in our division but we didn't have any team spirit which is really the only reason to run a race like that. Maybe next time.

4th of July

Brent is on the committee for a few of the local races and always volunteers to mark the course because he hates running races that are confusing. As is the tradition it seems, we were up at 4:30am and ready to go with our flags and spray paint by 5:00am. We placed flags along the course, and since it was only a 5k, we walked the course. It took us 1:19.00 hours. We kept telling people that if we beat our first time, we should be in good shape. They had a great turn out with some awesome sponsors and prizes! We didn't stay long though, because we had other important things (ehem, birthdays) to celebrate. Also, why do we always forget to take pictures BEFORE the race when I don't have red face and Brent looks like he's been resting forever (because he has).

Brent's birthday is the 4th of July and he has a secret love/hate relationship with the date. Let's take a look at the pros vs cons of this situation:
Pro: Holiday = Day off
Con: Holiday = People out of town

Pro: Birthday presents
Con: Last minute gifts include fireworks

Pro: Fireworks!
Con: Fireworks are kind of a show stealer

Pro: People remember your birthday (I've never really had the full pleasure of this experience)
Con: People remember your birthday..as an afterthought. Ex: "Hey Brent, happy 4th of July!" "Oh yeah, and Happy Birthday."

Pro: Every birthday includes a party with the rest of the United States
Con: Every birthday includes a party with the rest of the United States

I suppose it could get old, but seriously, either the 4th of July or New Year's would probably be the ultimate birthday for me. Maybe I'm just a sucker for fireworks. But I suppose you always wish for what you can't have and we had a blast nonetheless. The day started off super early marking the course for the 5k run that morning (more on that later) and we had a birthday party and watched fireworks (obviously). It really was a pretty great day with near perfect weather and a melty ice cream cake, so what more could you ask for.
Brent's sister, Mindi, got married this summer and the wedding was spectacular! She married a rockstar and we couldn't be happier having Matty in the fam. The wedding day was crazy, as all wedding days should be (ideal for candid moments). I abandoned Brent almost all night while I took pictures at the reception until my camera died and then had some of their amazing cake. Also, we had a blast in their photobooth!
It was my BIRTHDAY! Don't worry if you missed it, my half birthday is in like a month and that's plenty of time to get something together. Birthdays were never really a big thing in my family growing up. We never decorated the house or had a big party. Actually, now that I think about it we didn't really have small parties either. Just dinner and dessert with the fam. I don't regret it. It was great to be able to pick whatever you wanted for dinner because 'super chef mom', as we like to call her, would make it absolutely fabulous. But what I do remember is pretty much the best thing ever: the first bite tradition. It's very simple and especially wonderful. After candles are extinguished, birthday boy/girl takes a big 'ol bite right out of their cake. You know the one that you special requested from DQ with shark gummies? The giant chocolate chip cookie that was still frozen when said first bite was taken? Yep, that one. My entire childhood I thought that this was a tradition everyone carried. And to this day, I'm not sure why it's not more common. Because there really is nothing better than cake and frosting all over someone's face.

After meeting Brent, birthday experiences for me made a 180 degree turn. For my birthday this year, it was JUST THE TWO OF US, and that cutie-patootie decorated our entire living room, purchased birthday plates and plasticware, a table cloth, and big, fat, beautiful cake as big as my head complete with guilt trip for spending $40 on it. And why not? Birthdays are a perfect excuse to celebrate how great your life is, the things you have accomplished, and how much wiser you have become in the past year. It makes me wonder why we don't throw more spontaneous parties for accomplishments. Because if we are willing to make such a big deal about living an extra year, why not about a raise at work, or a good grade, or because it snowed, or maybe just because the sun came up today.

I like them both, the un-birthday party and the over-birthday party. But I'm most grateful that Brent and I get to choose the way we do birthdays, our own way.

*Seriously, that cake was huge. This picture was taken AFTER we had all that we could eat.Sharnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17624776941416661146noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3037627297157639957.post-68651690399242771292012-11-12T17:25:00.000-08:002012-12-07T22:12:03.154-08:00Because we Run .. and Bike .. and Swim! [Part 1]When I look back at our summer, it seems to be spotlighted by triathlons and races. If you're not really into this kind of stuff, too bad! We spent a substantial amount of time training and traveling to and from races this summer. Brent spent a substantial number of Saturday mornings on long bike rides. We competed in 11 races this year, some together and some separately but all of them were awesome.

Brent started off the summer in St George (where summer always comes first) in preparation for his Half Iron-man. We left Idaho with its snow and blowing freezing things for Southern Utah who welcomed us with it's open sunshine arms. And we loved every second of it. I seem to remember trying to leave as late as logistically possible in hopes of sucking every drop of bright, shiny goodness before returning home.

Here is Brent killing it in the swim. We're talking like 3th one out of the water.
Next up, the only race Brent has ever attended and did not competed. I felt the need to document it since the likelihood of it reoccuring is next to nothing. We had the bright-eyed bushy-tailed privilege of marking the 10k course the morning of the Freedom Fun Run with little flags. It was about what you would expect at 5am on a Memorial day morning: a perfect sunrise, that tiny chill in the air of summer mornings, and flags, lots of flags, all virtually identical to this:

That sunrise didn't make getting those flags in the ground any easier

THE BOISE HALF IRON-MAN 70.3! The pinnacle race of the summer! Or so we thought, until the day before the race. We went to bed hoping and praying that it was a fluke cold, rainy day and that Boise in June really is nice race weather. We also thought that a race starting at noon was sure to be warmer than usual. So did the Brent who decided to not pack a sweatshirt or waterproof jacket. The warmest clothes he brought is shown in that photo, just a tiny jacket and jeans with flip flops! It was freezing rain (literally, 35 degrees) at the swim start and windy on the bike, so they shortened the bike course from 56 miles to 15. Kari and I made plastic bag head scarfs to stay dry and make everyone jealous, obviously. It ended up clearing out and the race finish was perfect! It was a little bit disappointing to prepare for a 70.3 race and have it turn into a 29.3 but anyone who was at the swim start knows that each and every one of those athletes who competed deserve that Half Iron-man title, regardless of the miles.

We went to Sacramento in February for a quick weekend trip. If you like trips of the fly by the seat of your pants variety, this would definitely be the weekend for you. If you're ever interested in taking a similar trip, simply buy a plane ticket and don't book a hotel. Let me tell you, it's quite the 'thrill'. We flew into Orlando and drove to Sacramento the first day we got there. We were busy all day, checked out the sites, went to a movie, and at 9:45pm decided to find a place to sleep for the night. My only requirement was that they had free breakfast.

On the list of things we loved about the trip: Fish tacos from Rubios, our 5 minute Golden Gate experience to avoid paying for parking, Chipotle; and my personal favorite: the view of the Oakland Temple from our second, super creepy hotel room.

It was definitely a trip we won't forget, and hopefully won't repeat.

We have had quite the eventful (dare I say perfect) year and I just now realized that I should be blogging about it; not that I think that people should read it (they should) but more so that we can remember.
Plus, I love reading everyone's cute blogs with their awesome
families. So I decided that I will be catching up from the past year
with a post every week starting now. Here goes nothing!Sharnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17624776941416661146noreply@blogger.com0
